South Korean Boxer Defends Title Then Dies

Yo Sam Choi, South Korean International Flyweight Champion Defended his title in a fight that took place on Christmas Day in 2007 against challenger Henri Amoi. The fight was hard fought. It was close going into the 12th round. In that final round Henri Amoi succeeded in knocking Yo Sam Choi to the ground. Choi barely managed to get up before the ten count and won the fight. He then collapsed and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where emergency brain surgery had to be performed. After the surgery he never regained conciousness and on January 2nd of this year he was taken off of his respirator after being pronounced brain dead by the doctors at the hospital. His heart, liver, kidneys, and corneas were removed from his body for transplant patients on an organ sharing patient list.
