Study Says Panhandlers Do Better Than Workers

A new study that was recently undertaken in the city of Spokane, Washington indicates that being a panhandler may actually be a more lucrative choice in terms of making money than actually doing the old 9-5 jobs in some instances. The report indicated that some successful panhandlers are capable of making somewhere between $30-$40 an hour. Minimun wage in the U.S. right now is about $7 an hour and the average American worker is currently making about $19 an hour. The study also indicated that most panhandlers are not actually homeless as they claim to be and many of them suffer from substance abuse problems and alcohol issues and that very often the money they collect goes towards these ends and also in many instances they have criminal records.
