A Simple New Weapon In The Fight Against S.I.D.S.

Doctors are saying that there is a new way to fight the tragedy of S.I.D.S. (sudden Infant death syndrome) and the weapon that you need to fight it with you probably already have in your home. A new study has indicated that running a simple fan in the room where your baby is sleeping will reduce the risk of an occurance of S.I.D.S. by over 70%. The reason for this doctors believe is that fans may prevent an infant from breathing in exhaled carbon dioxide simply by circulating and recirculating the air in the room. Doctors suspect that one of the reasons for the occurance of S.I.D.S. is that infants become oxygen deprived while they are sleeping. They also advise parents to place their infants on their back when they put them in their beds to sleep. Children sleeping on their stomachs is not advised. Having children sleeping on their backs is believed to have cut the number of S.I.D.S. deaths in the United States in half as a practice on its own over the last 15 years.
